Synopsis (with no Spoilers):
One year has passed since the traumatizing events that
occurred in Yamatai Island, and Lara still doesn’t know how to explain the
supernatural and mystical things that she saw there.
Looking for answers, she seeks to discover the secrets
hidden beneath the human eye and follow her father’s footsteps, continuing the
search that lead to his own disgrace, “finding the lost city of Kitezh”, more
specifically “the place where the secret for immortality rests”, despite the
warnings of Richard’s previous partner, Ana. She then organizes an expedition
to Syria, hoping to uncover the tomb of the Prophet of Constantinople (an
important history figure to the city of Kitezh), Lara succeeds in doing so, but
then she is confronted with Trinity (an ancient order of Knights that worked as
paramilitary organization that investigated supernatural occurrences) and their
leader Konstantin. When escaping from the place, she finds a key symbol that
resembles one of the findings in her dad’s history book that connects the
respective research to Siberia. After one of Trinity member infiltrates her
mansion (Croft Manor) to steal the symbol, Lara decides to go with Jonah
(Lara’s best friend and also one of the survivors of Yamatai’s incident) to
Siberia. Arriving to the place, she gets separated from Jonah, due to an avalanche
and then she is forced to continue her almost never-ending journey alone…

Review:
Comparing to the Tomb Raider (reboot) that was released in 2013…
More weapon choice - Not only, they offered us more
weapons to use, but the customization was also wider, we could create different
types of ammunition by collecting certain things from the environment.

More stealth action - We can complete the game while
going blazing shooting everything (this was very common on the reboot), or we
have the option of finishing the story stealthy without raising the enemy’s
circle of attention.
More Tombs to explore - This was a very criticized topic
in the reboot, because despite having a few rare tombs to find, they were also
very easy to master. In this sequel, the developers really put lots of effort
into creating more tombs that were definitely harder to accomplish. The puzzles
were more challenging and expanded.
Characters - This game doesn’t maintain most of the
characters from the previous game (the only ones that appear are Jonah and Lara
– of course), strangely enough Sam (Lara’s university best friend that also
survived from Yamatai Island) isn’t present, as records say, she wanted to keep
distance from Lara after what happen. New characters are included, the most
important ones being Jacob (a Byzantine prophet who used the Divine Source to
inspire a religious movement); Ana (Lara’s father partner); Konstantin (a
Trinity Field Commander) and Sofia (a member of Remnants – a group founded by
Prophet’s disciples).
DLC’s and Extras - In the reboot there was some downloadable
tombs, but nothing too extraordinary. In Rise of the Tomb Raider there is Baba
Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, when Lara finds Nadia’s (one of the side
characters from the game) grandfather in the “Wicked Vale”, she then learns
that he was looking for his wife, who he believes was abducted by the Witch
from the Vale, Lara is skeptical about this mystery at first, but then she
discovers that this case is more than meets the eye… There’s also extra content
in the game, “Cold Darkness Awakened”, which I personally haven’t tried yet,
“Blood Ties”, where Lara’s learns about her family’s history while exploring
Croft Manor, and “Lara’s Nightmare”, where Lara fights a groups of zombie
like-creatures to find the master Key of the mansion and survive, after
awakening in the nightmare. Also after beating the game, we receive lots of
outfits that include old Lara’s models from some of the previous games, which I
found very nostalgic and entertaining.

Gameplay - Nothing changed too much, besides the more
“stealth” aspect that I already mentioned before, the gaming mechanics are
still the same.
Multiplayer - I never play on multiplayer, so I really
can’t say too much about it.
Final analyses in one line: “If you buy the game, only because of Lara’s hotness, she
will kick your ass”.
My
Final Score: 9/10
